The shop

Per BXV (2020), Carol Marshall started the shop after seeing a TV segment on the move toward fresh-roasted coffee, and several relatives have worked there over the years. A Bronxville business directory calls it the first coffee house in Westchester County, which we haven't been able to confirm independently.

The coffee

BXV (2020) reports 68 coffee varieties and a house blend of Sumatra and Colombian beans. A 2015 review in The Dial counted eight serve-yourself brewed coffees, plus lattes, hot chocolate, and tea, and described the shop as a place with plenty of tables for studying or working. A Sarah Lawrence student paper (undated) says it sells fresh beans to take home. None of the sources we found says the shop roasts its own coffee, so we list it as a coffee shop that sells beans, not as a roaster.

Photos from a reader's visit

Jeff, a Bronxville reader, sent these four photos from a visit in October 2026. They show what the camera caught, not a review, and they are not from a visit by Glenn.

A cork community bulletin board crowded with flyers for concerts, classes, a festival and rentals, with a vintage Golden Era Coffee sign on the wall to its left and a small sign reading Yes, we have Wifi below.

A reader's tip

Jeff, a Bronxville reader who told us he has no connection to the business, suggested Slave to the Grind as a neighborhood spot with a long list of coffees and a loyal crowd of regulars. His tip also made several claims that we couldn't confirm from published sources, so they are not repeated here.

This profile is researched from published sources, not from a visit. Hours and menus change, so check before you go. We could not review the business's own site or Instagram, so details from the shop itself are unconfirmed. Sources: BXV, Stronger Together (2020), The Dial (2015), and Sarah Lawrence Phoenix.
